Bowlin Energy Awarded Portion of Duke Smart Grid Project
Bowlin Energy has been awarded the contract by Duke Energy to install wireless nodes or collectors for its Smart Grid Project.
Bowlin Energy began installing the nodes in December of 2009 and will install nearly 300,000 of tghe nodes over the next 5 years. Bowlin Energy was founded in 1977 and serves as a full-service electrical distribution, substation, and transmission contractor. Bowlin Energy’s customers include most of the investor-owned utilities in the Great Lakes Mutual Assistance Group and the Southeast Electric Exchange, as well as, many member-owned utilities in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee.
Bowlin Group LLC,the parent company is a group of specialty contractors based in Walton, KY and serving the electrical power, wireless telecom and broadband industries.
Timeline:
November 2009- Bowlin Energy commences the project with 3 crews and installs 300 nodes (collectors) by December of 2009
January 2010 –Bowlin Energy has ramped up to 7 crews and installs 400 nodes in January
February 2010 –Bowlin Energy installs 400 Nodes
March 2010- Bowlin Energy adds additional crews and installs 600 nodes
April 2010-Bowlin Energy expands to 12 crews and installs 1000 nodes
May2010-Bowlin Energy installs 1200 nodes
June 2010-Bowlin Energy installs 1300 nodes
July 2010-Duke Energy projected installation of 1950 nodes
August-December 2010-Duke Energy projected installations of 1950 nodes/month.
January 2011-Bowlin Energy to increase manpower to 18 crews
January 2011-March 2011-Duke Energy projected installations of 3000 nodes/month.
April 2011-June 2011-Duke Energy projected installations of 4500 nodes/month
July 2011-Bowlin Energy to increase manpower to 30 crews
July 2011-September 2011-Duke Energy projected installations of 5167 nodes/month.
October 2011-December 2011-Duke Energy projected installations of 6000 nodes/month
